I am a former architect living in Houston, TX and Nellysford , VA with my husband, three kids, two cats and a dog.

My work tends to be a commentary about the places, situations and people that create internal unease in me. I challenge the unease by confronting it in a painting, collage or drawing, translating the subject matter into an image that no longer causes me anxiety. I try to calm and soothe the unease through, composition, color and sometimes humor. Sometimes this process works and sometimes it does not.

I am currently working on collages and paintings that emerged as a response to the superficiality of excess luxury consumerism. By merely borrowing from images in free magazines intended to sell us luxury goods, another luxury item is created with just paper, scissors and glue. The original source material becomes irrelevant as the compositions develop an identity of their own. Translating the paper collages into a painting further removes the collage from the source material and allows experimentation with scale and background, which helps to develop the identity of each piece.
